Another rare weekend when i will go out to join the crowds. This time is to Vivocity with a poly friend whom I have not seen for ard 6 months.
Lunch @ AMK was good, I had duck rice + a fantastic bowl of wanton soup. Besides the nice food, there was a 'free show' where a young couple was quarreling at the table in front of me. Wah long time nv experience such things hahahaha, guess it will not happen any time soon anyway. Then it was all the way to Vivocity.
Because it was still early, the crowd was still ok. We went to various shops like Zara, River Island, Pull and Bear, Espirit, then we bought the same shoes at IP Zone haha, cheap at $29! My old Adidas is tattered and worn out. The pair of shoes bought during CNY was too thin to be comfortable. We walked around here and there, went out to the open space to view Sentosa Island. The sea was nicely greenish blue. The sky was overlaid with a thin layer of cloud, nevertheless, it was quite sunny and warm.
Then we went to Daiso to look for some materials for my speakers' stands. Could not find the tiles mentioned in a forum, instead I initially found 2 wine bottle holders. But after seeing 2 more sturdy stationery wooden holders at another corner, I decided on them instead. Bought a bottle of green tea, paid and went out. My friend got hungry and we went down to the foodcourt at the basement?, I had chengteng while he had a plate of hokkien mee.
After all these, we went ard and went back. It felt nice to meet an old friend after so long. We wanted to catch some movie but there's none i wanna watch now except for Ironman which will be showing on my birthday, 30th April. If I were to watch it, it will probably be alone, which is something (watching a movie alone) i've done before.
Anyone wanna watch with me?
Anyway, here are the new 'speaker stands' haha.
It is another week gone. 2 bosses were not around, so things were a little relaxed. But nonetheless, there is still substantial amount of work to be done.
I am thoroughly enjoying my new speakers. I am not an audiophile but the quality is simply astonishing. Thus I bought 2 more cds, one from Joi Chua and one from Sarah Brightman which was a little disappointing. Joi Chua's refreshing vocals did make surfing not so boring. Personally I have not really experienced those high end hi-fi systems which line the stores in Adelphi but this is the closest I can get. The quality is totally a different league from my old MX5021. I cannot fathom how would those systems which cost tens of thousands will sound like. Diana Krall sounds excellent.
Things come and go. I had several things in my house which I have sold away, to chock up some cash for some uses. Things sold are:
1) my first IEM, Shure E2C for $60
2) 3 PS3 games; Ninja Gaiden ( insanely hard game), Heavenly Sword (completed), 3 goku musou 5 (no time to play) for $120
3) MX 5021 $80
4) Samsung 17" for $80
Seriously, it is quite a 'hassle' meeting buyers, not to mention to carry cumbersome stuff like a sub woofer.
Things bought:
1) nEar 04 $359
2) new Tokyo Porter wallet $120
3) New Casio Edifice watch $130
Old things go, new things come. Suddenly it sounds like a phrase in Joi Chua's song. 情人和朋友 来的来 走的走. People come and go out of ur life, be it friends, lovers. Recently, when I look out the window of a moving bus, I see people..people moving, people each having their own lives, people whom I do not know. In Japanese, I called it 人々,they are 'they', I am 'me'. Treasure those who had come into ur life, for everyone is simple everyone else, I believe every person who came into our lives for a purpose, and of cos treasure those who love u.
And another week has arrived, silently.
THE SOUND IS GOOD CAN.
Setup as below: some advice not to put the cds but i find that unless they are raised up to my ear level. I have placed some blue tacks as advised by some pros in Jaben forum.
It is a tiring day.
It all started on Thurs, backside itchy went to Jaben to audition this hot pair of studio monitors, the ESI nEar 04. There is this great mini review in Jaben's forum. Anyway the sound is truely amazing coming from this pair of small speakers.First of all, the clarity is astonishing, it is like opening a window where fresh breeze comes through into a stuffy room. Depth of details, soundstage, vocals are sounded so 'live' and so real, the vocals sounded as if very upfront in my face, even though the speakers are ard 1+M apart.
Anyway posted in some forums to sell off my Shure E2C in-earphones, my 1st pair of IEMS. They sound not bad but I think my current one Ultimate Ears Superfi 3 sounds better. My 3+ yr old Altec Lansing MX5021 was also put up for sale, I met up with the buyer this afternoon. Wah lao, the sub woofer is HEAVY. I could rem the weight when I bought it from simlim in 2005. After settling the payment, I went down to cityhall to buy my nEar 04 because stock is running low and I do not want to miss this since the price did go up a little compared to the previous time.
For a speaker this size, weight of these 04s is not too light. They weigh ard 5+ KG as well. After setting it up, music was played and as expected the sound is good, details, clarity, soundstage, depth, warmth.
Anyway, here is a picture, mine is the smaller speakers. The bigger sibling is the 05s
ohyeah, poor man(me) meeting 2 more buyers for my in earphones and games. Hope the deals will go thru smoothly.
This yr my own birthday present is not a Seiko watch but a Porter Tokyo wallet which costed me ard $120 includding shipping. It is the Porter Tokyo Heat Series, anyway there is only 1 wallet in this series.

It arrived on Saturday which is quite fast as I ordered it on Tues and making the payment on Wednesday. It is bigger than I thought haha, relatively bigger than my old wallet which is getting old and moldy. It is roughly the size of my whole palm! ahha.. It has also deeper compartment for notes and more compartments for other things. I like the rugged material and feel of it.
There are also some very nice Porter Tokyo bags in the websites. Not cheap though cos depending on models, some can cost up to $300+ or more but generally they cost ard from $100+ to $200+ which I think is acceptable because those bags are made in Japan. I think i will get either a small shoulder or waist bag or a tote bag next hehehe.
And it is 23 more days to my birthday.
