[Love Actually + Curse of Golden Flower]

I cannot believe I actually rejected a free premier of this lovely and heartwarming movie, Love Actually in 2003. Back then I was in British Council (temp) and I actually helped to do RSVP for this premier. I rem calling several embassies and also several artistes like Koh Cheng Mun, Hossan Leong, Lim Yu Beng, Irene Ang etc. Well after everything was done, my Director of Arts, Ms Lena St George Sweet asked me if I wanted to watch the premier and I rejected it! Anyway back then I was not too keen on meeting and greeting those socialites and all. I rem my ex wanted to watch too but...=x

Well the part which I like most of this movie is the part where there's this author and his temp house help. The 2 fell in love without each of them knowing! Even with the language barrier, they fell in love. It is intangibly touching when they were telling how they felt abt each other YET they do not understand. Guy says " Bringing u home is the happiest part of my day", gal says,"Leaving u is the hardest part of my day" T_T so touching! The guy who actually like his bestie's fiancee/wife is quite touching as well, he liked her yet keeping his distance as a respect for them. How many guys can do that now? The little boy who went all out to confess his love for that gal is also quite amazing haha..

While watching this movie, emotions swell up to almost to the brink of overflowing. Suddenly, the world seemed to be in colors again, suddenly it seemed to be warm n er..'pink' and alive. Then when the emotions sub-sided, things went back to normal and yes back to normal. Anyway, it is a brilliant movie tho it is bit hard to catch that British accent.

As for Curse of the Golden Flower, I cannot imagine if I watch the movie in HD. Even without HD, the entire movie is cluttered with shimmery gold, gold and more gold! Everything little props is carved with intricate oriental patterns. Chow Yun Fatt's emperor's robe is prb more brilliant than the usual club/disco's that shiny ball on top whatever u call that. And my friend told me that robe is 40KG! Imagine cladding on 40KG! Anyway, Gong Li's performance is stunningly brilliant. Jay Chow's uber modern look seems outta place. He really looked odd among the cast, as if some guy went back in time to ancient China. But his acting is not that bad too. As for Chow Yun Fatt, well he does not disappoint.

And yes it was freezing in the theatre.
