On tv recently, esp those without cable television, we are mercilessly slapped with an onslaught of 'idols' programs. It was not that bad with Singapore Idol, then it was Super Idol...After Super Idol came Star Idol, Super Host. NOW there is the upcoming Super School Idol,Singapore Idol 2. I believe soon there will be Super Idol 2. A successful Super Idol program brought on a entire spawn of idols, stars, hosts...do the small entertainment circle in SG really need all these?

The initial Super Idol program came as a breathe of fresh air to the, frankly speaking boring TV shows by channel 5 and 8. After Channel U was assimilated with Mediacorp, there were a series of not bad variety TV programs. Now, riding on the 'idol' wave they gave us almost a overwhelming series of more stars and idols wannabes. I thought Star Idols was not bad, then came Super Host with a 17 YO geek. Now there are more.

So I believe the future roadmap for free TV will be idols,stars and more idols stars wannabes. Soon after School Idol, there might be Super Office Idol, Super Executive Idol, Kindergarden Idol, Doctor Idol, Lawyer Idol, Super Cute Nurse Idols, Teacher Idol, Princpals Idols, Prefect Idols, School Belles Idols, Best Cleaner Idols, Super Hawker Center Idol, Bus Drivers idols, taxi driver idols, Biker idols, Clubbers Idols, Pubbers Idols, Hardwarezone Idols (under forum idols), Flowerpod Idols, Ohgenki Idols, CosyCot Idols, Female Factor Idols, Spree Idols, Sales Idols, Accounting Idols, Admin Idols, IT Idols, Biotec Idols, Designer idols, hairstylist idols, Boss and CEOs Idols, Minister Idols, Members of Parliment Idols, PAP Idols etc...

The future of television never seems more exciting.
