Advertising scene in Singapore is not really promising n does not promote creativity among e talented n mayb not talented designers here.The reason is simple, simply on e TV n take a look at the quality of local commercials n those quite obviously done overseas. E difference is too great.

Example of sucky commercial 1) The good coffee bean. To illustrate a good coffee bean, this huge mutated coffee bean actually helped an old lady across e road and after doing tat, it was spotted to be a good coffee bean and it was kidnapped to make good coffee becos it is a good Samaritian bean n will make delicious coffee. Wheres the FUCKING CONCEPT !!!!!!??! How can this kinda shit be shown on TV !!!??!!!

Sucky CM 2) Wayway washing powder, e 1st series was having this bunch of smiling idiots dancing n dancing on TV then the washing powder was shown. Oh this means when pple start to use this washing powder, then they will start to dance n kick ard like those idoits on TV ? E 2nd series is having some old aunty or whoever to shout " Xi Yi use Wayway,Way way something something..." E commercial dun even last 10 secs. So e company is cutting down on its budget to promote its product. Who will buy ?! Its not even effective in showing how good is e washing powder in washing clothes at all......

Sucky CM 3) "Wo hen shuai, ying wei wo yong sunpage IDD" literally it means, im handsome n gorgeous becos i use sunpage IDD. Its like seeing it and u will "DUH" n wonder wat kinda shit is this ? So lame !!

I have become so numb of seeing these kinda low quality CMs tat whenever its CM time, i wun feel anything at all and my mind wld be shut off. Unless something eye catching comes by like e HP series of CMs. Actually the SAF series is quite good too and YES, its not done here but overseas. Some CMs really suck,some r oke, nothing to shout abt.

But think again, e designer may have good ideas but the client does not appreciate it. This cld be e case often. And sometimes, they will want abit of this frm this particular CM n abit of that frm another,making the whole CM to be some cheap copying piece of junk wif no originalty. Most cheapo clients(typical of locals since e airtime rate is so high) wil want their their product to be shown as long as possible such as they want their product to be seen at least 28 seconds in a 30 sec CM. This wil make them feel their worth in paying e fee.

And oh yeah, designers r treated like shit in most companies, they do almost everything even e most unrelated ones. This is e reason why most of my female classmates quitted this line after abt 2 yrs of abuse.
